HEADING TO ALBUQUERQUE COMIC CON

Gil is taking a break this weekend from filming The Lying Game to appear at the Albuquerque Comic Con  at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.  The event is from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm Friday through Sunday. Gil will appear on Saturday and Sunday.

RANCHIN’ IT ON THE SET OF “THE LYING GAME”

Gil just returned to Los Angeles after wrapping up his first episode of “The Lying Game” on ABC Family. He stopped to take a few photos with castmates Alexandra Chando and Blair Redford and a new equine friend. He will be back in Austin in January to film two more episodes. Don’t miss the new season of “The Lying Game” on ABC Family starting January 2, 9 EST, 8 Central.

GIL STARTS FILMING “THE LYING GAME” ON ABC FAMILY

Gil is in Texas this week to film the first of several episodes for the TV show “The Lying Game” on ABC Family. He plays Ben Whitehorse, the father of Ethan Whitehorse (Blair Redford) and Dan Whitehorse (Tyler Christopher).

BREAKING DAWN PREMIERE

Cast members hit the red carpet November 14th for premiere of Breaking Dawn Part I was streamed live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Gil spent 2 1/2 hours on the carpet doing interviews, but most importantly signing autographs and posing for pictures with fans.  “The fan support of all the Twilight Saga films has been overwhelming,” said Birmingham. GIL ATTENDS DREAMCATCHER FUNDRAISER

On October 13, Gil Birmingham attended and presented during the Dreamcatcher Foundation’s annual Gala, a benefit to help the Canadian organization that granted more than 6000 wishes for the First Nations in Canada. Gil had a great time supporting this important cause, along with good friend musician Stevie Salas, actor and host Wes Studi and new friend Steven Seagal.

CROOKED ARROWS WRAPS UP FILMING

After a month on the set in Boston, MA, Gil Birmingham wrapped up his scenes in Crooked Arrows, directed by Steve Rash. The film centers on Joe Logan (Brandon Routh), a 30-year-old mixed-blood Native American, who wants to modernize the reservation but must first prove himself to his father (Birmingham), a traditionalist tribal chairman, by rediscovering his spirit. Joe postpones his casino-building dreams to coach the fledging Native American lacrosse team against the prep school in which he used to star. As a result, Joe inspires the Native American youth and teaches them the true meaning of tribal pride. The sport of Lacrosse dates back to the northeastern Native American tribes in the 1100s. Born in San Antonio, Texas, award-winning actor Gil Birmingham has appeared in more than 40 film and television productions. Most recently, Birmingham generated public acclaim for his portrayal as Billy Black in the Twilight Saga films: Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse, based on the best-selling book series by Stephenie Meyer. His film credits include appearances in End of the Spear, Dreamkeeper, Skins, Gentle Ben, The Doe Boy,  and Love’s Long Journey, among others.  Birmingham has appeared in numerous TV shows, including Castle, The Mentalist, Nip/Tuck, 10 Items or Less, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Veronica Mars and Body & Soul. In 2005, his powerful portrayal of Dogstar in Steven Spielberg’s six-part TV miniseries, Into the West, captured the attention of audiences worldwide. Birmingham recently starred in The Love Ranch with Helen Mirren and Joe Pesci, directed by Taylor Hackford, and he will return to his acclaimed role as Billy Black in Breaking Dawn, Part I, scheduled for release 2011. Also in 2011, Birmingham was the voice of Wounded Bird in the animated film Rango, starring Johnny Depp.
